It's about that time of year when I shift gears from buying mainly imported flowers to using locally grown stuff, particularly stuff from my own "backyard". My cutting garden isn't really in my backyard but a solid three hours away in good old Massachusetts.
I'm behind schedule with seed-starting, but that's nothing new really. Truth be told, all the seed-growing happens in my tiny studio apartment. There's never enough light nor air circulation (sigh). Plant health aside, sometimes I struggle with living with grow lights and the smell of wet soil ALL THE TIME. When I've done this in the past, there were times I'd look up into my apartment from the sidewalk and I think "what are those people growing up there?".... Just flowers, people.
